A little history….

The union of the Moretti and Furlotti families was the ideal combination for creating Finca Adalgisa. The Moretti were highly cultured, prominent lawyers, originally from Tuscany, who settled in Mendoza in the 18th century. My grandfather, Pedro Moretti, was active in both his public life as a Magistrate and Senator, and in his professional life as a Professor of Law.

The Furlotti family comes from Parma, Italy, immigrating to Argentina and settling in Mendoza in 1893. They bought their first vineyard after only a few years and soon the family was producing wine from 180 hectares of their land.

The Furlotti marriage produced 10 children who all became involved in the family business, Bodega Furlotti. This went on to become so successful that at its height, it was producing 30 million liters of wine from 3,000 hectares and indeed the name Bodega Furlotti became a household name throughout Argentina. No table was complete without a bottle from Bodega Furlotti

In 1918, Angel Furlotti, the founder of Bodega Furlotti, was awarded the title of ‘Caballero de la Corona’ by the Italian Government for his contribution to the war effort during the First World War. His son, Arturo, also received recognition from theItalian Government and was awarded the ‘Insignia del gran official al merito.’

Since immigrating to Mendoza, both families have always been active in the local Italian and Argentinean communities, supporting public works such as the building of Mendoza’s Italian Hospital.

his valuable legacy and love for both wine production and community involvement continues to this very day through Gabriela, the great granddaughter of the respected Señor Furlotti, the original founder of Bodega Furlotti.

Nowadays the small winery at La Finca produces with the grapes grown exclusively at La Finca, about 5000 bottles per vintage. The wine, of course carries the name…..Finca Adalgisa and is offered to our guests at night in our cozy wine tasting area within the winery.
